Don’t Pierce Your Face, Distort It

Facial Distorting Jewelry

by Margaret Wiltshire

Wow, not sure how I really feel about facial distorting jewelry!  This genius idea is that of designer Burcu Buyukunal (BTW, she is not wearing the piece in her pic on her website). She was inspired by the terrifying beauty trend towards cosmetic surgery. The idea is meant to question conventions of beauty and challenge the function of jewelery as adornment. Well, it’s working, because I’ve got lots of questions!

What do you think? Will you wear this jewelry?

Go Hands Free In The Google Car

Margaret Wiltshire

by Margaret Wiltshire

Did you know that Google — the search engine god— has been surreptitiously working on developing a technology  to make a car that drives itself? Yes, this internet giant has been!!! Check out the youtube video below!

Google is getting into Artificial Intelligence. I will not be surprised if Google replaces its current search engine technology with a technology that could answer questions or queries in natural language, the way we humans do! Like IBM’s Watson did on Jeopardy! Go Go Google Go!

Bugs As The New Protein Source For Humans

by Margaret Wiltshire

Mr. Dicke and Mr. Van Huis, professors of entomology at Wageningen University in the Netherlands have been longtime advocates of insects as an alternate source of protein for human consumption since the 1990s.They recently wrote an article for the WSJ in which they told how, “Many people laughed—and cringed—at first, but interest gradually became more serious. In 2006 we created a “Wageningen—City of Insects” science festival to promote the idea of eating bugs; it attracted more than 20,000 visitors.”

Guerilla Marketing Inspiration Part 2

by Margaret Wiltshire

Hey guys, in an earlier post I featured some really innovative and inspirational guerilla marketing campaigns that I thought were really out-of-the-box. Check out this campaign created by DDB Advertising Agency in Auckland, New Zealand.

Very provocative, risky and strategic, which might very well be representative of this brand’s identity.

DDB developed a campaign for a retail chain store, Superette, in New Zealand. The picture speak for itself!

I hope this gets your creative juices gushing!!!

iPad 2 Already Released in China? What? Really?

Margaret Wiltshire by Margaret Wiltshire

Hello! Hello! Hello! Happy Monday. Interesting finds for you all!

So, I found a really interesting blog called M.I.C.(Made In China) Gadget. Now, what I find interesting about this blog, that keeps me coming back for more, is that this blog does a great job of informing about the latest tech knockoffs, especially Apple products. IT MUST BE STATED — I am by no means promoting purchasing knockoffs! I believe in paying full price or even the sale price for a revolutionary product/s — I AM A MAC! That is the reward for ingenuity! I find it interesting however, to see the flip side of the ingenuity equation — how quickly vultures and sharks duplicate a product and cut into your piece of the pie.
